Manfred Mann's Earth Band
The Best Of Manfred Mann's Earth Band
Re-mastered Volume II

Here is one of the more eclectic collections that devoted followers and new fans of Manfred Mann's Earth Band will truly appreciate. Chock filled with hit singles, rare b-sides and killer album tracks, The Best Of Manfred Mann's Earth Band Re-mastered Volume II is a fine overview of a three decade hit making career. As a wonderful companion piece to the Warner/Rhino hits compilation from a few years ago, The Best Of Manfred Mann's Earth Band Re-mastered Volume II covers the whole history of the band from 1972 to recent recordings from this decade. As a deep and thoughtful collection for the fans, Manfred Mann and Co. truly delivered some important music over the years as supported by the great line up of songs on this CD.

For starters, you get the Bob Dylan interpretations that only Mann could make his own: The rare single version of Father Of Night, Father Of Day makes it's appearance here from the classic Solar Fire from 1974. From Glorified Magnified, the rare 1972 single It's All Over Now, Baby Blue debuts for the first time in over three decades his North America audience. How about a live reading of The Times They Are A Changin' from the recent Mann Alive double disc set, as well as the first time North American release of Shelter From The Storm from his European only release Soft Vengance.

Being an astute musician and songwriter for many years, Manfred Mann knew how to discover new talent with his many fine interpretations over his decades of work. Al Stewart's Eyes Of Nostadamus receives the five star techno treatment originally found on the long out of print 1982 Somewhere In Afrika album. Manfred Mann's Earth Band's most successful chart topping effort, The Roaring Silence is represented with the fan favorite Singing The Dolphin Through. Complete with Chris Thompson's vocals and the song writing expertise of Mike Heron.

In addition to the above song titles, Mann reached into the vaults and found b-sides like Tribute from 1972, a very rare 12" version of the Eddie And The Hot Rods' Do Anything You Wanna Do from the rare Criminal Tango album. Also, one of the more requested rarities is the hard to find version of Joybringer from 1987's Masque album.

Friday Music and Cohesion Records are proud to offer Manfred Mann's Earth Band The Best Of Manfred Mann's Earth Band Re-mastered Volume II. Budapest Live

In the early 80s, it was finally time for the world to hear a solid live concert recording from Manfred Mann's Earth Band. Budpest Live was captured live over two nights at the Budapest Sporthalle in April of 1983. Sparing no expense, Mann and Co. delivered a very grandiose recording filled with all of the hits from the latter day Manfred Mann's Earth Band, which had made this band the arena favorites they are to this day.

Bruce Springsteen's classic Spirits In The Night opens the album with a very strong vocal throughout by Chris Thompson. Followed by Sting's Demolition Man as well as more Springsteen tracks such as the #1 worldwide smash Blinded By The Light, Budpest Live has gone on to become a highly sought after recording by Mann enthusiasts everywhere.

New members Steve Waller (guitar) and Matt Irving (bass) truly solidified the rest of the band with some very nice leads and bass lines throughout the entire recording. Mann's playing is second to none as he outdoes himself on classics like Bob Dylan's Mighty Quinn and Bob Marley's Redemption Song.

This album hasn't been around for a number of years, but Friday Music is proud to offer this Cohesion Records classic for Mann fans here in the states. A great live recording which really shows what this incredible band was up to in the 1980s, Budpest Live is an excursion for the taking. Enjoy!

The Roaring Silence

1976 and 1977 were two very pivotal years in the life of Manfred Mann's Earth Band. The band changed several band members in middle of a successful five album run, while building an incredible following throughout the world with their unique blend of Progressive Rock, Jazz and Blues music. Although Manfred himself was familiar with previous success in the pop charts, The Roaring Silence gave Manfred Mann's Earth Band a whole new level of fame as this album rode the top of the charts in 1977.

Certainly, Bruce Springsteen's Blinded By The Light had all the makings of a hit record, but it must have caught the band by surprise as well as Springsteen as it gave both entities their first Number One records. This track was applauded by a whole new legion of Mann fanatics, as the refreshing combination of lead vocals from the newly added Chris Thompson and Mann's familiar keyboard phrasings made this a modern day classic rock standard. Even today, this is one of the most played songs in classic rock history. Trivia: Mann is singing along with Thompson on the end of this track.

The rest of the album is just as stellar. The haunting Questions features a wonderful vocal again by the spirited Chris Thompson, while new member Dave Flett's guitar leads make this one of the most memorable tracks from this number one album. Supported by stable mates Chris Slade on drums and Colin Pattenden on bass, Mann & Co. continue their Prog-Rock tradition with other fine songs like The Road To Babylon and the fan favorite Waiter, There's A Yawn In My Ear. The Incredible String Band's Mike Heron receives a nice cover treatment as well with his classic Singing The Dolphin Through.

Friday Music and Cohesion Records are very pleased and proud to present this sixth Manfred Mann's Earth Band release in the continuing Remasters Series. The Roaring Silence has not been available in the United States for quite sometime until now. Mann and the Cohesion Records/Creature Music team have re-mastered this classic album to it's full glory. Supplemented with restored and additional artwork and two bonus tracks not featured on the original vinyl issue, Spirits In The Night sung by Chris Thompson and the single edit of Blinded By The Light, this re-master is definitely what the fans have been waiting for.

Manfred Mann's Earth Band The Roaring Silence is back! New and improved with bonus tracks and remastered sound. Your ears will be pleasantly surprised.

Watch (Remastered With Bonus Tracks)

It's difficult to imagine a solid follow-up to a platinum plus recording like The Roaring Silence, but in 1978, Manfred Mann's Earth Band delivered a very consistent and enjoyable effort known simply as Watch.

With the same line-up from the previous stellar effort, Mann and Co. deliver one of their most important efforts which yielded an international hit with Robbie Robertson's Davy's On The Road Again. Certain to move an audience to their feet, tracks like Chicago Institute and Martha's Madmen have all gone on to become modern day classics which are still performed to this day by Manfred Mann's Earth Band.

1978's Watch has gone on to be their most successful album worldwide. You can see why after listening to incredible songs like Circles and the newly revamped version of Bob Dylan's Mighty Quinn.

All in all, Watch is a very fine album which has stood the test of time, as the most articulate of Manfred Mann's Earth Band fans would certainly agree.
