AL STEWART | ZERO SHE FLIES & ORANGE CD
Al Stewart's Zero She Flies launched the artist from being an English coffeehouse staple into a future superstar thanks to the intriguing lyrics and melodies contained within the 10 track masterwork. While achieving cult-like status in the U.K. with his unique brand of folk/rock, Zero She Flies featured some of Al Stewart's finest songs like the early prog rock feel of Manuscript, Electric Los Angeles Sunset, Zero She Flies and the brilliant Gethsemane, Again. Taking his influences of Bob Dylan, Paul Simon and Bert Jansch, the young Al Stewart belts out one of his strongest efforts with Electric Los Angeles Sunset. This got the attention of underground radio here in the states as imports of this yet to be released U.K. LP were being discovered by hip record buyers here in the U.S. His amazing follow-up Orange would bring Al Stewart even more fame as his previous albums like Zero She Flies were truly beginning to catch fire in Europe, again setting the stage for bigger things to come like Year Of The Cat & ModernTimes (FRM-7012).
Orange features some of the finest songs in his early repertoire like the prog-rock classic The News From Spain, and the majestic I'm Falling, and one of the singer's personal favorites Once An Orange, Always An Orange. Both of these fine albums featured some of the best musicians of our time like Rick Wakeman, members of Graham Parker's The Rumour and Brinsley Schwarz, Tim Renwick and many others. The albums went on to be obscure and highly desired collector's items, fetching hundreds of dollars for mint copies...but we are now making these fine rare albums available once again.....Friday Music is no stranger to the important musical catalogs of Al Stewart. Therefore, it is with much honor to continue the Al Stewart Original Master Series with the first time pairing of two of his finest albums Zero She Flies and Orange.
