Additional Details
If it only takes one song to be forever acclaimed and associated with "Ya Ya" by Lee Dorsey is one such number. If this was the only great song he was ever known for, it surely paved its way on the r&b and rock scene early in 1961 and has maintained its run even in the new millennium. A smash hit for this New Orleans born performer, and later covered by John Lennon, Steve Miller Band, Johnny Halliday, Tony Sheridan, Lee Michaels, Ike & Tina Turner, Petula Clark, and many others, its easily one of more popular international songs ever recorded.
The #1 r&b charter, and top 5 in the top forty track was pulled from the Lee's debut album of the same name "Ya Ya." The legendary 1961 Lp features a treasure trove of more greatness including follow up hits like "Do Re Mi" "Eenie Meeni Minee Mo" and "People Gonna Talk."
Even more great r&b rockers like "Give Me You" and "Chin Chin" were featured on the Fury Records classic which has truly stood the test of time.
Friday Music is very pleased to announce Lee Dorsey's classic "Ya Ya" album for the first time in decades on vinyl. This amazing Lp will also be pressed on clear red vinyl and presented in its original album cover from the Fury 1961 release.
To further enhance your Lee Dorsey listening hours, we are also including 3 bonus single tracks for the first ever on an official Lp release, his smash hit "You Are My Sunshine" and the greats "Hoodlum Joe" and "When I Meet My Baby"
Produced by soul legend Bobby Robinson and mastered impeccably from the Fury recordings by Joe Reagoso (B.B. King/Buddy Guy/Canned Heat), this will be one of the more important r&b and early rock revisits to vinyl this year.
